NEW TO DIVERGENT CHURCH CANBERRA & QUEANBEYAN?
DIVERGENT CHURCH Canberra & Queanbeyan is about being real people serving the real God in real life. So often the church has become a place of ‘plastic fantastics’. We believe that God has called us as we are, to become what he is crafting us into. Crew at Divergent Church come from many different backgrounds both culturally and experientially (with over 25 languages spoken with people from all around the world). Mums, Singles, Couples, Professionals, Uni Students, Youth, families, and more.
DIVERGENT CHURCH Canberra & Queanbeyan gathers to encourage one another, to laugh, to share stories, to connect, to raise one voice, and to open up the Bible and hear teaching that changes the way we live.
Our music is contemporary, the coffee and food is good, the dress is casual. Divergent Kids happens each Sunday morning. (though not at Divergent Church Canberra City)
People at church also come from all across the City from Belconnen and Gunghalin in the North, Tuggeranong in the South, Queanbeyan, Weston Creek and Woden Valley. Thus we have small groups (Life Communities) in or developing in most areas of Canberra.

What to Expect
Food/ Coffee
Community is our heart and nature, even 'at church' we love to hang out. Our services are structured but casual with great food and coffee and time to connect. We believe in the significance of community and food helps (don’t worry there is also healthy stuff in their as well).
Kids (Planet Life)
Our Pastors Josh and Ange Reading come from a background as Kids/Youth Pastors and have four young children (see their profile), so as a church we love kids. We have a great program and whatever their age they will have a ball. As we grow (and of course as the kids grow) our program and its reach will also constantly extend. We are sure your kids will have a great time! Our leaders will give 100% of their care while making it a fun experience to learn about lessons from the Bible.
We also have an area set up for feeding mums and young bubs (and Mothers Group during the week)
Music
Our morning gatherings tend towards a full band environment and are lively and passionate (though we do have special acoustic 'chilled' Sundays), Our afternoon and evening gatherings are normally a more acoustic chilled vibe. We love music because it is the language of the soul.
Preaching/Teaching
Josh (our Senior Leader / Pastor) is our primary preacher/teacher and has a style that is relational and real. He is enthused about the Bible and what God wants for the lives of his people.
Additionally, we have a team that preaches around DIVERGENT CHURCH Canberra that preach regularly, bring different gifts, life experience and style
At Divergent Church Canberra & Queanbeyan, we believe in the word spoken both with relevance and conviction, never compromising the counsel of God. It is the word that is the foundation of everything we do in life.
Sermons at Divergent Church Canberra & Queanbeyan operate under a number of different methologies from Topical to Book series. We do not hold any methodology to be sacred, the word itself preached with clarity, in its context and with conviction is our heart and intent.
Team Leadership
We have great leaders in Pastor Josh and Angela Reading but as a Church we also wholeheartedly operate with a wider Pastoral Leadership team that serves our gatherings and church as a whole. In each gathering are specific Pastoral Leaders that care for and lead that gathering.
We also have many preachers coming though at DIVERGENT CHURCH Canberra and regular guests.
